COMPANY HISTORY
Founded in 1960, Baltimore Hydraulics operated from the 3rd floor of a row house in downtown Baltimore. The company’s founder Harry F. Kauffman, saw a need by the automotive industry for the repair of hydraulic jacks and air tools. The business grew throughout the 60’s until off shore products began driving prices downward causing us to look to other markets where our knowledge and expertise could be utilized. Our understanding of the physics behind hydraulic systems and components allowed us to become a major provider of service and repair to Baltimore’s Shipyards, Steel Mills and Industrial Plants. As word spread, requests for our services continued to grow throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Currently owned and operated by Harry’s son Gordon, and his son Chris, Baltimore Hydraulics is moving into its third generation of operation serving a wide variety of markets throughout the United States.
Although through the years, Baltimore Hydraulics remained within the city limits, constant growth prompted the company’s management to move twice to larger quarters. Today, BHI operates from a 40,000 square foot plant located in northeast Baltimore.
Since 1960 we have directed our energy towards perfecting skills in the area of Troubleshooting, Repair, Design, & Manufacturing of all types of Hydraulic Systems, Equipment, and Components. Our focus has always been on Quality Workmanship. It’s what our customers have come to expect and it’s what we strive to provide every time.
